Eugene W. Metz, 61, of 37 Fourth St., Pennsburg, died Monday in Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. He was the husband of Betty (Zern) Metz.
He was a truck tire builder for Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., Pottstown, for 33 years.
Born in Creamery, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Samuel G. and Agnes (Wampole) Metz.
He was a member of St. Mark's Church, Pennsburg.
Metz was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as Signalman First Class on the USS Rocky Mount, flagship of the 7th fleet.
He was a financial secretary of the Pennsburg Fire Co. for 22 years.
Surviving with his widow are three sons, Stanley of Allentown, James of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Robert of Stroudsburg; two brothers, Donald of Bechtelsville and Samuel of Jackson, Tenn.; four sisters, Betty, wife of Harold Zollers of Trappe, Montgomery County, Dorothy, wife of R. Kenneth Kulp of Zieglersville, Helen Heckers of Bechtelsville and Lugretta, wife of Edward Bobola of Jacksonville, Fla., and four grandchildren.
Services were held at Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg.
