Robert R. Smith Sr.

Robert served in the U.S. Marines from 1966 to 1970. He arrived in Vietnam in 1967 and was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. He was sent to the 3rd Tank Battalion, based outside Dong Ha at Gia Lieh Combat Base (near Hue). From there he was sent to B Company based in Camp Carroll and working out of Con Thien, Gia Linh, Cam Lo Ville, Cam Lo Bridge, Khe Sanh, and addional bases along Rt 9. Although a Telegraph operator, He was also used as a loader in M48A1 Tanks when needed.
