I found out through Ancestry my Mom’s father; Matthew Love died in World War II in 1945 at the age of 28 before my mom turned 1 years old. I always thought growing up my grandmom’s husband was her dad. To my surprise it wasn’t. My mom passed away in 2000 and I haven’t seen or talked to my mom’s sister, my Aunt Mattaleen since then. I decided weeks ago on the way home from our trip to Maryland we would go to Gettysburg National Cemetery where he is buried and find his grave and place a grave blanket. I tried reaching out to my Aunt who lives up state to let her know and send her pictures or even FaceTime. A few days ago I found out she passed away on 12/14. Crazy how life works and we find things out that we never knew and even though I’m sad about my aunt’s passing I somehow feel at peace And now because of my grandfather sacrificing himself for our country I am joining the VFW auxiliary in his honor to help veterans
At some point the tombstones were updated and isn’t it strange how a tree grew thru his grave???
