Gary Kostishion

Gary enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972. He attended recuit training at Great Lakes Il. After training he rteported to Newport Naval Base RI.

Gary worked on small crft and did security. When the base closed in 1974, he was orderedto the USS Los Alamos, AFDB-7where he worked in repair division. The Los Alamos was a large floating dry dock based in Holy Loch Scottland. The Los Alamos was there in support of SSBN Polaris Submarines, known as boomers. After 2 years Gary was promoted to Haul Technician 3rd class and later to 2nd class. While in Scottland Gary met and later married Patricia Mallaney, his wife of 37 years until she passed away in 2012. Gary has a son David and a daughter Denise, plus three grand daughters. After seperation from active duty in 1976, Gary joined the Naval Reserves at Willow Grove Naval Air Station. He served anther year there and was Honorable discharged from the Navy in 1978.
