Robert served in the U.S. Army. He was in the 115th Infantry Regiment. He was a machine operator and rifleman. H received the Expert Infantry Badge. He served in Normandy, Rhienland and Northern France. He was wounded three times and received the Purple Heart. He also received the Oak Leaf Cluster, 3 Battle Stars, A Good Conduct Ribbon, and the European, Africa, Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons. He received a Certificate of Disability for Honorable Discharge while at the Valley Forge Hospital in Phoenixville PA. He stayed active in his loyalty to the service and was a Post Commander for the VFW in Red Hill PA. He continues to partisipate in Veteran Functions and in the local Memorial Day Parade. His children recall him sending them out to sell Poppies to raise money for veteran causes, and also sell them as they marched in Parades. Robert Rodenberger passed away on 02 January 1994 after suffering a Brain Aneurysm.
