Marlin Leroy Wert Jr., 84, husband of Jeannette (Johnstin) Wert, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Born August 24, 1940, in Ashland, PA, he was the son of the late Marlin Leroy Wert, Sr. and Helen (Banning) Wert.
Marlin served his country for 6 years in the United States Army from 1962-1968. In the late 1970s, he met the love his life, and together they founded and successfully ran Marjeane Caterers in Lansdale for 20 years. After retiring, Marlin and his wife moved to Ocean City, MD, where they embraced new adventures while creating lifelong friendships. They loved hosting their family at the beach, and cherished filling their home with love and laughter. As a vital member of his community, Marlin was the heart of it all—always radiating positivity and humor, making those around him laugh. He was deeply committed to many of the local organizations and devoted much of his time to supporting them. The American Legion, Kiwanis, Loyal Order of the Moose, Order of the Elks, and Easterseals are just some of the groups that benefited from his leadership. He was an avid golfer, often playing rounds with friends weekly. He also loved spending time on the water fishing and boating, creating lasting memories with family and friends. Marlin was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son Jonathan Wert, husband of Anne; daughter Carolyn Von Ahnen; daughter Marla Johnstin, wife of Richard; daughter Mary Barrett, wife of Thomas; daughter Bethann Gallo, wife of Thomas; sister Helen Gerner, wife of Daniel; sister Margaret Hogan, wife of Thomas; and sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Jean Lutz, wife of Brian, and Charles Bradley Wert.
