William S. Herbert

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of William Herbert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. William, born on July 6, 1942, in Allentown, PA, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on September 19, 2026.

William was the cherished son of the late John Herbert and Irma (Becker) Herbert. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers John and Bob Herbert, and his sons Thomas and Mark Herbert, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the next life. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Patricia A. Herbert, his loving son William, and daughter-in-law Vicky Herbert. His legacy is carried forward by his nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and values he instilled in his family.

A proud veteran, William served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He played a significant role during the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Forrest Sherman DD931, embodying the courage and resilience that defined his character.

William was a dedicated and esteemed employee of Mack Trucks, where he devoted thirty-nine years of his life. Rising through the ranks to retire as head of the purchasing department, he was respected and admired by colleagues who became lifelong friends.

He was known for his kind and loving nature, qualities that made him not only a devoted husband and father but also a steadfast friend to many. William possessed an innate ability to connect with people, making everyone he met feel valued and heard. His laughter was infectious, and his wisdom was a guiding light for those fortunate enough to know him.

Services: A service to celebrate William's remarkable life will be held on September 25, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 610 Pine Street, Bally, PA 19503. A viewing will be held 6-8 pm Friday, September 25, 2026, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus, PA and 9-10 am Saturday in the Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Bally. www.BKRFH.com

William Herbert will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, reunited with his loved ones, and watching over us with the same love he shared during his time on Earth.
