Wendell W. Waddell, 90, of Coopersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke’s in Lower Saucon Twp., PA.
He and his loving wife, Nancy A. (McDonnell) Waddell, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Pleasantville, PA, he was a son of the late George and Mildred (Benedict) Waddell.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict, Bay of Pigs, Grenada, Panama, and Desert Storm.
Mr. Waddell was employed as a flight engineer, and later as an aircraft electrician for the U.S. Air Force at the Willow Grove Air Force Base for over 30 years.
Mr. Waddell attended Springfield Church of the Brethren in Coopersburg. He served as a volunteer with the North Penn Goodwill Service for more than 50 years, volunteered with the Skippack Fire Company for many years, and volunteered with the Coopersburg Fire Company. He loved spending time outside caring for his home and property, tinkering with his tractors, as well as hunting, snowmobiling, camping, and square dancing. However, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, who he adored.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Wendell G. Waddell and his wife Audrey of Quakertown, his daughter, Karen J. Markham and her husband Jim of Coopersburg, four granddaughters: Rebecca, Ashley, Stephanie, and Sabrina, and three great grandchildren: Ava, Kaleb, and Bella. He was preceded in death by four brothers: William, Harold, Donald, and Russell Waddell.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 11 AM in the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main St., Telford, PA 18969. Interment with military honors will follow in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, November 3, 2021, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
