Richard G. Dewees, a longtime resident of Eagleville, PA, passed away at the age of 82 on January 10th, 2026 surrounded by his children. George, as he was well known as, was born in Norristown, PA and was the son of Harry and Bernadette (nee English) Dewees. After school, George dedicated his life to serving his country, community and family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. Afterward, he built a distinguished career as a police officer for the Norristown Police Department and was also a former firefighter, fire chief and lifelong member of the Hancock Fire Company in Norristown, PA. After retiring from the police department, George returned to work part time as a security officer at GlaxoSmithKline before fully embracing retirement. Beyond his commitment to work, George was a proud Veteran and remained a supporter of the military, police and fire community. He enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, watching old Western movies and the History Channel and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
George is survived by his sister Mary (nee Dewees) Epright, his brothers Harry "Bud" Dewees and Joseph Dewees, his former spouse Patricia Wilfong, his sons Chris and Scott Dewees, his daughter Stacy Shick (Aaron), his stepdaughter Darlene Ciotti (John), his grandchildren Gavin, Brianna, Makayla and Hayden Shick and Anthony "A.J" Ciotti, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Bernadette Dewees and his longtime partner Evelyn Drissel.
Family and friends are invited to attend George's memorial service on March 7th, 2026 at 11:00am at Riverside Cemetery, 200 S. Montgomery Ave., Norristown, PA 19401
